Intelligence says it has new evidence on pandemic origins

President Biden announced on Wednesday that he asked Intelligence officials to redouble their efforts to find the source of the coronavirus pandemic. Officials told the authorities that they have a lot of unexamined evidence related to the virus’s origins, prompting Biden’s request.

Officials plan to use computer analysis to figure out if the Covid-19 accidentally leaked from a lab in Wuhan, China. They may need to track the movements of lab workers and examine patterns of the outbreak to answer that question. However, thus far, Officials haven’t offered any details on the new evidence. More than that, they can’t even say what type of analysis they would need to conduct. Biden ordered intelligence officials to produce a report on the findings within 90 days.

A senior administration official noted that the federal government would tap national labs, along with other scientific resources that were not involved in this effort beforehand. In fact, according to a U.S. intelligence report, three researchers from the Wuhan Institute of Virology were hospitalized in November 2019. This data fueled the debate about the virus escaping the lab and that it could have been spreading at least one month earlier than the Chinese government had initially reported.

Meanwhile, Rand Paul demanded Fauci’s Departure

China is vehemently denouncing the lab leak questions, calling them Western propaganda. It claimed that the outbreak began in a Wuhan wet market. However, thus far, this version has failed to satisfy U.N. investigators and Western scientists.

The U.S. government’s growing suspicion about a lab leak has dented the reputation of Dr. Anthony Fauci. The latter is the head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). Fauci has recently changed his public statements about the coronavirus’ origins and funding he authorized for research at the WIV.

Republican Kentucky Senator Rand Paul, one of Fauci’s fiercest critics, demands Fauci to leave his post. He accused the doctor of obfuscating the truth about the pandemic’s origins, as well as downplaying his own role in funding the WIV’s research.
