Elon Musk officially canceled Tesla`s Model S Plaid Plus

According to a tweet from CEO Elon Musk on Sunday, Tesla officially canceled the most expensive flagship sedan – the Model S Plaid Plus.

Previously, Musk and Tesla promised their fans the tri-motor, Plaid Plus version of the new Model S could give drivers 1,100 horsepower, acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in two seconds, and 520 miles on a fully charged battery.

On Sunday, Musk wrote on Twitter, which counts followers above 50 million, that Plaid+ is canceled. He said that there was no need for a new model as Plaid is good. He added that from 0 to 60mph in under 2 seconds is the quickest car ever made.

In March, Tesla decided to raise the Model S Plaid Plus price bringing it to $150,000. According to a CNET report, the company removed the option to order the Model S Plaid Plus from its website in the last week of May.

The remaining version of this model will cost around $120,000, and among other features, it will come with a 395-mile range battery, with 1,050 horsepower and acceleration from 0 to 60 miles per hour in less than 2 seconds.

Details on Tesla’s Model S

Musk previously planned to make a delivery ceremony for the Model S Plaid in Fremont, California at the Tesla factory on June 3. However, as the date approached, he decided to delay this until June 10, saying that the car needed one more week.

By April 26, Musk was saying that Q1 had some of the most challenging supply chain challenges that they have ever experienced in Tesla`s history. He added that it was a huge problem.

He also talked about technical challenges developing to manufacture new versions of the Models.
