How Google Plans to Enforce its Vaccination Rules

Google is ready to take measures against employees who aren’t willing to follow its vaccination rules. The tech giant told its employees that they will lose salary – and will eventually be fired – if they don’t comply with its Covid-19 vaccination policy. 

Employees had until December 3 to declare their vaccination status. Google said after that date it would start contacting employees who had not uploaded their status. The company also plans to get in touch with unvaccinated employees. It will also contact employees whose exemption requests did not receive approval.

 Google will take measures against employees who refuse to comply with the vaccination rules by January 18. They will spend 30 days on “paid administrative leave.” If they fail to comply with regulations, Google will put them on “unpaid personal leave” for up to six months, followed by termination.

Google and Biden’s administration

The company from California is requiring its employees to eventually come into offices three days a week at some point in 2022. The company is showing limited patience for those who refuse to get vaccines. Several months ago, CEO Sundar Pichai announced that the company would require vaccinations for those returning to offices. 

It is not only about Google and its vaccination rules. The White House ordered U.S. companies with 100 or more workers to ensure their employees are fully vaccinated or regularly tested for Covid-19 by January 18. However, a federal court issued a stay on the administration’s order in early November, putting a halt to the administration’s efforts. 

Nonetheless, the company asked its more than 150,000 employees to upload their vaccination status to its internal systems. It doesn’t matter whether they plan to come into the office or not. Google indicated that it plans to follow the administration’s order.
