How Amazon Plans to Attract New Customers

The E-commerce giant continues to expand its operations. Last month, Amazon’s former Prime boss Neil Lindsay has been moved to overseeing the e-commerce giant’s health efforts. Amazon is tapping Neil Lindsay to lead its health efforts as Amazon deepens its healthcare industry presence.

Lindsay serves as the vice president of health and brand within Amazon’s worldwide consumer business, according to Lindsay’s LinkedIn profile.

His responsibilities now include overseeing the company’s combined health efforts, including its online pharmacy. He also has to take care of Amazon’s telehealth and health diagnostics units. Lindsay continues to oversee Amazon’s global brand and marketing efforts, according to a person familiar with the topic.

Amazon and the health care industry

Over the years, Neil Lindsay held roles across several divisions, including heading up Amazon’s key Prime subscription business and managing worldwide marketing. Lindsay also helped make Amazon devices like Kindle e-reader, Fire and Echo products more popular.

Lindsay is an essential figure in Amazon. He sits on the “S-team,” a highly influential group of executives that report to the company’s CEO Andy Jassy.

He will try to make Amazon Pharmacy more popular among customers. The purpose of Amazon Pharmacy is to make it easier to order prescriptions online.

The e-commerce giant’s telehealth service, known as Amazon Care, started as a pilot program for some of its employees. This year, the company expanded the program for all its employees. It also began offering Amazon Care to other companies for their employees.

Amazon also sought to attract health care companies to use its cloud-computing services to manage their vast amount of data. It added new health care applications to its Alexa voice assistant and rolled out a health and fitness tracker, Halo.
