Apple has released new iPad Pro models
On Tuesday, Apple unveiled new iPad Pro models, a completely redesigned regular iPad, and an updated version of the Apple TV 4K.
The new tablets could help the company boost iPad sales, which fell 14% in the previous holiday quarter and 2% in the most recent quarter.
It now has a fingerprint reader in the power button. It has a more squared design, similar to the iPad Air and iPad Pro, and a large 10.9-inch screen.
The company also announced a new $249 Magic Keyboard Folio case for the iPad, which includes a kickstand, a trackpad with multitouch support, and a magnetic connector that charges it automatically. However, there is something odd about the Apple Pencil support.
The improved second-generation Apple Pencil, which charges on the side of the iPad Air, iPad mini, and iPad Pro, is incompatible with the new iPad. The new iPad has a USB-C port rather than a Lightning port. Hence, you’ll need to purchase a $9 USB-C to Lightning adapter to charge the Apple Pencil.
The New iPad Starts at $449
Apple will sell different configurations, including WiFi only and WiFi + 5G cellular, but the starting price will be $449, up from $329 for the ninth-generation iPad. It will be available for pre-order on Tuesday and in stores on October 26.
As in previous years, the iPad Pro will be available in two sizes: an 11-inch model and a larger 12.9-inch model with a better screen.
Apple claims it is up to 15% faster than the M1 processor used in the previous iPad Pro model, which was released in 2021.
The Apple Pencil also behaves differently on the new iPad Pros. The screen can now detect the Pencil tip up to 12 mm above the screen’s surface.
