Here Is What Happened in Stock Market This Week

After the market closed on Monday, Australian equities rose as the Materials, Resources, Metals & Mining sectors all saw increases.

 

The S&P/ASX 200 increased 1.02% as of the Sydney closing. The S&P/ASX 200’s best-performing stock of the day was Nickel Mines Ltd (ASX: NIC), which increased 6.70% or 0.06 points to close at 0.95. Gold Road Resources Ltd (ASX: GOR) was up 5.15% or 0.07 points to 1.43 in the late afternoon, while Mesoblast Ltd (ASX: MSB) gained 5.81% or 0.05 points to close at 0.91.

 

Nuix Ltd (ASX: NXL), which dropped 6.40% or 0.06 points to conclude trading at 0.81, was the worst-performing stock of the session.  Hub24 Ltd (ASX:HUB) was down 2.47% or 0.57 points to 22.51 while Sims Metal Management Ltd (ASX:SGM) down 2.80% or 0.42 points to close at 14.60.

 

On the Sydney Stock Exchange, advancing issues outpaced falling ones 765 to 610, and 416 finished unchanged. The implied volatility indicator for S&P/ASX 200 options, known as the S&P/ASX 200 VIX, increased by 9.92% to 15.02.

Outlook on Japanese Markets

After the market closed on Monday, Japan’s equities rose as increases in the Power, Gas & Water, and Pharmaceutical Industries sectors drove up stock prices. The Nikkei 225 rose 1.16% at the Tokyo market’s close. Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings Ltd. (TYO:3099), which increased 4.70% or 56.00 points to conclude trading at 1,247.00, was the best-performing stock of the session on the Nikkei 225. West Japan Railway Co. (TYO:9021) was up 3.37% or 180.00 points to 5,527.00 in the late afternoon, while Keisei Electric Railway Co., Ltd. (TYO:9009) was up 3.56% or 135.00 points to conclude at 3,930.00.

 

Chiyoda Corp. (TYO:6366), which lost 2.38% or 10.00 points to conclude at 410.00, was the poorest performance of the session. On the Tokyo Stock Exchange, advancing equities exceeded falling ones by a margin of 2403 to 1105, while 289 closed unchanged.

 

Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings Ltd. (TYO:3099) stock increased to levels not seen in three years, rising 4.70% or 56.00 to 1,247.00. Shares of Keisei Electric Railway Co., Ltd. (TYO:9009) increased by 3.56% or 135.00 to reach 52-week highs. Nikkei Volatility, a gauge of implied volatility for Nikkei 225 options, fell 2.84% to 19.49.
